NORWALK, CONNECTICUT - November 25, 2008 - EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses, announced that two of its subsidiary companies were recognized by the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) with coveted 2008 Construction Industry Safety Excellence (CISE) Constructor Safety Awards recognizing their outstanding safety performances over the past three years. CURT is an association of leading corporations which are major users of construction services, dedicated to the promotion of cost effective construction methods; the CISE program encourages efforts to improve safety by recognizing safety leaders.
CISE awards were presented to EMCOR companies University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors (UMEC), a full-service mechanical contracting company based in Tempe, AZ, and Performance Mechanical, Inc. The CISE Awards recognize the safest companies and projects in the world. Award winners have safety records eight times the industry average and are selected for their innovative approach to safety by construction executives from top owner firms who judge the competition. UMEC and PMI were cited for instilling a culture where safety, quality and productivity (SQP) are all one goal, for demonstrating a management commitment to reduce risk while increasing SQP, and for deploying educational SQP resources to ensure the realization of company goals.
