EMCOR performed a major overhaul of a seven mile steam tunnel in Washington, D.C. that serves more than 100 government facilities and buildings.
EMCOR performed a range of integral facilities services and mechanical construction services relating to the tunnel including designing, fabricating and installing 75 HVAC units and ventilation fans with the required steel support structures, repairing the concrete walls and ceiling, verifying ventilation air flow and building compliance with noise abatement standards, excavating and replacing 80 feet of steam supply and condensate return line, and inspecting, maintaining, and providing housekeeping services for the steam distribution complex.
