Expertise
Matt developed his engineering expertise through professional engagements in both consulting and corporate environments. During his early years in the industry, Matt opened and managed the Connecticut office of a Boston-based engineering consulting firm. After a stint as a mechanical and electrical engineer with Digital Equipment Corporation’s corporate design and construction group, he became director of performance contracting at Trane Corporation’s Connecticut office, eventually moving into a sales management position. With Trane, he was responsible for performing energy analyses and negotiating performance-based sales contracts. As a result of his broad experience, Matt understands and can help meet the demanding needs of high-performance office buildings; laboratories; hospitals; high-tech facilities; industrial and manufacturing environments, chilled water plants, and educational institutions.
Matt is active in a variety of industry and professional organizations. Currently on the board of advisors for the University of Hartford’s Construction Institute, he also served as chairman of the Institute’s marketing committee. In addition, he was president of the Association of Facilities Engineering’s (AFE’s) Capitol Region Chapter #79. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), where he serves on technical committee 7.8 (owning & operating costs) and as secretary of the organization’s Connecticut chapter.
Holder of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arizona, Matt is a LEED accredited professional and registered professional engineer in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
Matt’s awards include the ASHRAE Boston Chapter Member of the Year Award (1989) and first place in the Connecticut ASHRAE Energy & Technology Competition (1996) for chiller plant renovations at Middlesex Hospital.
