Value Delivered

Steve oversees the firm's design/build projects providing clients with the kind of budgeting, value engineering, scheduling, and estimating assistance they need to ensure their projects are completed in a timely, high-quality manner.  By helping owners and general contractors evaluate proposed design options, and select appropriate equipment and installation methods before construction begins, he enables them to resolve constructability issues before they become expenses and ensure that the systems they need are the systems they get. The result - projects and systems that consistently exceed expectations.  He also brings leading edge knowledge and practices to all endeavors as a LEED accredited professional.

Expertise

Having joined UMEC in 1986, Steve brings 20 years of industry experience to every client project.   Before becoming vice president, he worked as a senior project manager, experience that has made him extremely knowledgeable about clients’ day-to-day project needs and expectations.  It’s expertise he has learned to apply to a variety of environments including laboratories, data and communications centers, hospitals, hotels, residential high-rises, educational institutions, detention centers, and water treatment facilities.  In every case, he works closely with his clients to ensure they get the innovative strategies and solutions, high-quality energy-efficient systems, and responsive customer care they need to succeed in today’s high-performance business environment.

Holder of a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo, Steve has also studied heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and controls design engineering at the University of California, San Diego.
