Comstock has one of the largest, most experienced and technically knowledgeable safety departments in the Canadian construction industry resulting in high client productivity. Bryan is responsible for the development, integration and administration of the Health and Safety program at a national level.  This includes providing technical expertise and guidance on all safety related issues and the functional management of Comstock’s divisional and project safety personnel. 

 

Expertise

Specializing in the field of Health and Safety for nearly 10 years, Bryan’s expertise has been primarily within the construction and mining industries. Starting as a Project Safety Officer on numerous construction and mining projects, he ultimately ascended to the position of Safety Manager for an internationally operated industrial contractor.

 

His experience includes involvement on a variety of projects including mechanical and electrical system installations within nuclear stations, hydro and coal energy plants, petrochemical plants, mining facilities, automotive plants, water treatment facilities and hospitals. He has also been directly involved in several specialized industrial projects including: secondary material agglomeration and containment systems, facility decommissioning, thermal lancing, industrial chemical processes, catalyst screening, air pollution control systems, dredging/ dewatering and hazardous and designated substance handling.

 

Bryan brings an extensive educational and technical background into this position.  He holds a bachelor's of applied science in occupational health & safety and professional certificates in project management and human resource management, from Ryerson University. Bryan has also completed university studies in fields including: environmental management and engineering, business management and architecture. 

  

With a passion for safety, Bryan has completed comprehensive industry related safety training including: Common Core for Underground Hard Rock Mining (Ontario Ministry of Skills and Development), Crisis Management (Mohawk College), OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System (CSA/BSI), Radiological/Nuclear Safety, High Voltage Safety Awareness and numerous provincial and accredited safety association training courses.

Bryan is an avid sports enthusiast and continues to play both squash and hockey at a competitive level.
