Value Delivered
As the division's financial leader, Al ensures that EFS's 12 mobile services companies maintain the solid financial foundation and outstanding financial performance needed to support consistent delivery of today's highest quality facilities services. To do this, he fills three vital roles.

In the financial reporting and analysis arena, Al works with the mobile companies' chief financial officers to accurately consolidate their monthly results reporting, establish yearly goals and objectives, and update quarterly forecasts. This permits more effective corporate monitoring and management of each operation's financial health. He and his team also analyze key metric indicators, such as product line margins, labor utilization, cash flow and backlog volumes, to identify areas in which corrective actions may be needed and to continuously improve financial performance.

Al also has corporate compliance responsibilities. By promoting EMCOR and EMCOR Facilities Services' policies, procedures, and accounting practices, he encourages effective financial stewardship and appropriate financial transparency. In addition, in accounting areas unique to mobile, he assists the companies' controllers in adapting generally accepted accounting practices and implementing the internal controls necessary for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Finally, Al oversees various business unit initiatives. He and his team help the mobile companies use the financial business system (COINS) in accordance with operational best practices. They also evaluate potential company acquisitions, business tools and system enhancements to continually improve the company's management tools, while increasing its ongoing growth and productivity.

Expertise
After a stint as staff auditor with Coopers & Lybrand, Al amassed 19 years of heating, ventilation and air conditioning-industry financial operations experience.  His first industry position was as a regional financial analyst for Carrier Corporation, where he spent his next 17 years. During that time, he held various financial leadership positions, including chiller plant controller, financial operations manager, business practices officer and commercial services finance manager. He joined EMCOR in 2005.

Al holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University and a master's in business administration from Syracuse. As a participant in the United Technologies Executive Education Program, he also studied at the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business. He is accredited in Illinois as a certified public accountant.

The Personal Side
During his off hours, Al enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, tackling home improvement/outdoor projects and re-exploring the Midwest. He is also an avid Chicago sports fan with the Chicago Cubs leading the pack (and the heartaches).
