Dan oversees Gibson's full range of services, ensuring that every project results in consistently high-quality client solutions. His responsibilities include management of overall business strategy, internal policies and procedures, market evaluation and new service development. In all of these activities, his primary objective is to deliver the innovative electrical and technological solutions clients need to meet both today's - and tomorrow's - facilities management challenges.
Expertise
Dan has built his communications and technology systems expertise on more than 20 years of industry training and experience. He began his career with Communications Contractors, Inc. and Ameritech Information Systems, where he held positions as communication technician, foreman, general foreman, superintendent and union steward. In 1992, he founded Communications & Data Services, Inc. (CDS), which he managed until Gibson acquired the firm in 1998. Prior to taking his current position, he was senior vice president in charge of Gibson's technology division. Responsible for the division's overall management, he oversaw a staff of sales engineers, project managers, warehouse personnel, operations people and administrators. He became Gibson's president and CEO in 2006.
In 1986, Dan completed the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers' (IBEW) four-year apprenticeship program through Local 134. His further training includes estimating courses from TRF and ConEst Software Systems, and various management classes through FMI and Babson College.
Licensed by the City of Chicago since 1992 as a supervising electrician, Dan has been a certified value-added reseller (VAR) of: structured cabling (voice/data/fiber optics), copper and fiber optic splicing, central office installations, and data center and network design, as well as wireless, life safety, building management, integrated security and PBX systems.
Dan is a member of Building Industry Consulting Services, International (BICSI). He is also involved with NECA (National Electrical Contractors Association), ECA (Electrical Contractors Association) Communication Division (past president), CTF (Communication Technology Forum) committee (past president), the JATC (Joint Apprentice Training Committee) of IBEW Locals 701 and 134, the Ace Mentor Program of Chicago and the Michael T. Murray Charitable Golf Outing (president). In addition, he serves on the board for the annual St. Paddy's Day Luncheon of the Electrical Industry of Chicago.
The Personal Side
Married with two children, Dan enjoys golfing, fishing and exercising.
