Value Delivered
Steve is proud of his company's ability to deliver high-quality fire protection and construction services that safeguard the clients against loss of lives and destruction of property. He gets personally involved with creating and implementing key strategic initiatives, establishing operating policies and procedures, and overseeing financial performance. A hands-on manager, he regularly meets with customers and visits jobsites to ensure that his company and its employees maintain the firm's attention to detail, strong sense of urgency and high standard of accountability. It's an approach that gets results. The firm's sales have grown from $66 million in 1998 to $180 million in 2007.
Expertise
Steve began developing his industry expertise while he was in high school working in his father's residential plumbing business. After college, he started his own plumbing firm targeted at the commercial and industrial market. The company moved into fire protection in 1978, when a client asked to have a new sprinkler system installed. Seeing an opportunity, the company took the job and successfully completed the project. Since then, Comunale's extensive experience, advanced expertise and leading-edge capabilities have formed a solid foundation for the firm's current industry leading position.
Steve is an expert motivator, teacher and expediter. As a motivator, he encourages his people to take responsibility for doing whatever is required to complete every project thoroughly and properly. As a teacher, he helps his managers, foremen and supervisors create effective solutions by applying their past experience and industry knowledge to current situations. And as an expediter, he stresses the follow-through necessary for successful projects that generate high levels of client satisfaction.
Holder of a bachelor's degree from Ohio State, Steve is a member of the National Fire Sprinkler Association, where he serves on Local #669's negotiating committee. He is also a member of the American Fire Sprinkler Association and secretary/treasurer of the Cleveland chapter of the Mechanical Contractors Association.
The Personal Side
Steve and his wife have two children. A member of the board of the Akron Art Museum, he is also an avid equestrian who enjoys participating in national show jumping events.
