Value Delivered
As a physicist and control systems engineer, Roger approaches each installed system from the customer's perspective, analyzing and confirming that what was delivered will meet their highest expectations for function and performance. To achieve this, he assesses individual system components to confirm that they are functioning according to the manufacturer's specifications and evaluates overall system integration to verify that it meets or exceeds the client's anticipated performance levels. If it is not, he performs various calculations and conducts the studies necessary to develop performance-enhancing suggestions. In addition, he created and helps maintain a relational database for tracking large project start-up, commissioning, and test and balance documentation. The result is end-to-end value that consistently helps clients meet the complex challenges they must confront in today's facilities management environment.
Expertise
Backed by nearly 20 years of technology experience, Roger has extensive knowledge of control systems architecture, system troubleshooting, process assessment and cross-platform integration. After starting with Centaurus Systems as a circuit analyst, he moved into a variety of increasingly more responsible positions, including engineer, project manager and business manager. In 1999, he helped found Syntech Automation, an automation and controls contractor specializing in cross-platform and process automation. He then moved to BMT Scientific Marine Services as project manager on the Chevron Tahiti Project, where he oversaw installation and maintenance of deep-water offshore oil platform monitoring systems. He joined Spira-Loc in 2007.
During his career, he has directed a number of successful high-impact projects. For example, he oversaw the replacement of an existing control system at the San Diego International Airport Fuel Facility. This entire project was completed in seven hours without disrupting airport operations. He also took over a failed project that already had 40 days of downtime and completed it with only 30 hours of additional downtime.
Roger holds a bachelor's degree in physics with a minor in applied mathematics from the University of California, San Diego, and a master's in business administration with specialties in finance and entrepreneurship from the University of San Diego.
Licensed as a professional engineer in California, Roger is a LEED-accredited professional. In 2002, he delivered a presentation on cross-platform integration at the San Diego Energy Conference, sponsored by San Diego State University.
The Personal Side
Roger and his wife have two children, a girl and a boy. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys windsurfing, scuba diving and participating in triathlons. As a young man, Roger was active in the Boy Scouts of America, where he was an eagle scout.
