EMCOR UK, Inc. Completes Major Project For News International
NORWALK, CONNECTICUT, December 27, 2007 - EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses globally, announced that its UK subsidiary has completed a major project for News International near Liverpool, UK that involved the supply and installation of mechanical and electrical services for five new state-of-the-art printing presses. The value of the contract was more than $30 million.
EMCOR UK’s work on the project allows News International to use double-sided color printing on all pages, a significant milestone for the publishing company, which prints a range of local, regional, and national newspapers including the News of the World, The Sun, The Times and the Sunday Times.
The new presses are located near Liverpool and span a total of 16,500 square meters. EMCOR UK provided all mechanical and electrical services on the site, including the installation of various HVAC and water systems, high-voltage switchgear, fire detection and alarm systems, and CCTV.
“This project was the latest in a series of large-scale contracts completed by EMCOR UK in the past year,” said Anthony Whale, President and CEO of EMCOR UK. “In particular, the demands of converting the facility while maintaining the continuity of its existing eight printing presses are illustrative of the complex environments we are adept at accommodating on all of our projects.”
