Value Delivered

Jonathon conducts state-mandated reviews that help utilities ensure maximum return on the energy efficiency incentive payments they make to their customers, which include colleges and universities, high-tech firms, heavy industrial facilities, waste water treatment plants and various commercial sector clients. This involves conducting initial meetings to explain the application review and approval process, and to establish the clear lines of communication required to quickly resolve any issues that might arise. Jonathon then visits the applicant's site, reviews the proposed energy model and savings projections, and makes any revisions necessary to win approval. When a project has been completed, he verifies that all work has been performed as specified and that the client is obtaining the projected energy savings.

Jonathon's expertise has enabled him to make substantial contributions to some significant projects. At the University of California at Davis, for instance, he managed one of the industry's largest utility incentive due-diligence reviews, certifying $1.7-million in incentive support. To achieve this, he led school representatives, utility staff and consulting engineers through a process that required meeting a compressed deadline during a holiday period. Through his team leadership and by finding and correcting critical errors, he enabled on-time approval while ensuring that utility ratepayer funds were allocated according to program guidelines and appropriate engineering principles.

Expertise

Jonathon's expertise focuses on applying leading-edge energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. After a brief period as an energy analyst for a local solar energy design firm, he joined EMCOR Energy Services, where his educational background and practical project experience have helped him increase his ability to identify energy efficiency opportunities, estimate energy savings, audit energy efficiency claims, retrocommission current facilities and consult on energy generation projects.

Jonathon holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Davis. A certified engineer in training seeking his professional engineer license in Spring 2008 and a LEED-accredited professional, he authored a comprehensive fuel cell market and technology assessment for the Long Island Power Authority in Long Island, New York.

The Personal Side
When his schedule permits, Jonathon enjoys traveling abroad and engaging in outdoor activities, such as hiking, camping, rock climbing and snowboarding.
