Sandeep helps clients reduce energy consumption and costs by assessing energy conservation and generation projects for commercial, industrial and government facilities. His responsibilities begin with engineering due diligence services for Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) and Southern California Electric's (SCE's) Standard Performance Contract Programs, as well as for PG&E's Solar Initiative and Self-Generation Incentive offerings. For these and other utility and private sector clients, he performs "walk-through" and comprehensive energy audits. This involves reviewing clients' project plans, conducting on-site inspections, analyzing performance data, and preparing reports on the feasibility of proposals and the performance of completed projects. For institutional customers, he also provides performance specifications they and their contractors can use to design projects that will deliver maximum energy savings. And he helps commercial and institutional organizations identify energy-saving opportunities and assess their potential value. Backed by his broad engineering knowledge, his goal is always to provide sound, practical recommendations that make clients' operations more energy efficient and cost effective.
Expertise
Sandeep is an expert on cooling, heating and power (CHP) systems, as well as energy efficiency technologies, especially solar and co-generation. Prior to joining EMCOR, he was a graduate research assistant at the University of Maryland's Center for Environmental Energy Engineering, where, in addition to performing industrial energy audits, he did research on CHP, co-generation, automotive refrigeration and CO2 systems. He was also assistant director of the University's Mid-Atlantic CHP Application Center. There, he helped promote the center through presentations at conferences, industry meetings and workshops, while aiding the center's director and building relationships with various state energy and environmental agencies. Before coming to the United States, Sandeep worked for Voltas-Air International Limited in Maharashtra, India, where he oversaw the development and commissioning of automotive heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
Sandeep holds a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from India's Pune University and a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland. A U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-accredited professional, he recently passed his engineer-in-training (EIT) examination and is currently working toward his professional engineer's (PE's) license. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, and the U.S. Combined Heat and Power Association. He has also co-authored numerous research papers and technical reports on topics related to CHP and refrigeration systems.
The Personal Side
Sandeep is married and enjoys working out, playing table tennis and cricket, and participating in hiking and other outdoor activities.
