EMCOR Group, Inc. Project Receives Environmental Protection Agency "2009 Project Of The Year" Award

2009 Project of the Year award for sustainable construction services of the EcoLine TM Project at the University of New HampshireNORWALK, CONNECTICUT, February 2, 2010 - EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE: EME), a Fortune 500® leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses, is pleased to announce that a project recently completed for the University of New Hampshire by its EMCOR Energy Services unit, the EcoLine TM Project, has been named the "2009 Project of the Year" by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Landfill Methane Outreach Program. This Program annually recognizes landfill methane capture projects for innovation in generating renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The EcoLine TM Project was completed at the University’s main campus in Durham, New Hampshire.

The EcoLine TM Project converts landfill gas into a medium BTU quality gas, which is then used to produce environmentally clean electric power for both the University of New Hampshire and the local electrical grid. EMCOR Energy Services’ (EES) scope of work included the engineering design, procurement, construction management, construction installation and commissioning associated with a new turbine generator, gas compressor and all ancillary equipment, as well as modification of the existing University of New Hampshire power plant equipment, to operate on processed landfill gas.

"We are pleased to have played an integral role in this important and innovative project for the University, and we are proud of the recognition it has received," said Art Strenkert, President, EMCOR Energy Services. "This award is particularly gratifying to EES, because it is the second project in two years where we have performed a significant scope of work on a project that was then recognized by the EPA--the first project was in 2007 for one of the largest landfill gas projects in the country, in Pennsylvania."

Ranked in the top five percent for energy efficiency among colleges and universities by the U.S. Department of Energy, the University of New Hampshire is one of the nation’s leading sustainable universities. Additionally, the University of New Hampshire was also recently named by the Princeton Review as one of the top 11 sustainable universities in the nation.
